La RovinaThe Ruin

Monterriggioni lay in ruins.  The use of the canons the Borgia had recently implemented in their military warfare was made obvious by the broken and mangled shops and guilds throughout the village.  But, what made Rosa's stomach roll was the Villa de Auditore, hunched and crippled against the rear wall of the ruined village.  A room at the top of the once imposing structure lay open and exposed like a festering wound.  Several pillars at its base creaked and crumbled under the weight of the dashed brick and mortar and splintered wood above.  Rosa goaded her horse a bit further, but

Chris pulled the lever for the elevator, sending Sheva up into unknown territory so she could maybe get inside the building that held the controls to the bridge. The door was locked, so she needed to find another way in. Chris would lend support from below. Suddenly, the now familiar click, click, click of Licker claws sounded all around them. Sheva took off at a dead run, trying to reach the crate that blocked the only other way into the building.

"I'm going to need your help with these things, Chris!" She yelled to him.

Chris and Sheva walked cautiously down a long corridor. They'd just narrowly escaped a whole troop of B.O.Ws armed with machine guns and rocket launchers. And without Chris's marksmanship, they wouldn't have made it out alive. So the skittish way they were walking could be forgiven.

I was never really happy with my first attempt, so I downloaded GIMP and tried again. I'm still getting used to the program, but so far it seems to be okay. Yay for transparency? Anyway, I'm still not terribly happy with the shading, it's a little weird on the wings, but it's a start. Maybe I'll redo it again at some point.
